DIRECTION
From I-5 north of Mt. Vernon, go 40 miles east on Hwy 20 (North Cascades Highway). Just before Rockport State Park, turn left onto Forest Road 1030 (also known as the Sauk Mountain Rd.) . Follow this gravel road 8 miles to the trailhead parking lot.
Northwest Forest Pass is required
Driving time:  around 2 hrs

Esmerelda Basin

Esmeralda Basin    7.2 miles R/T,   2,200 feet elevation gain,highest point 6400 feet. 
Carpool from Tiger Mt. parking lot,appointment at 8:00, 15 min. waiting time
Direction
Take   I 90 exit # 20 turn right and another right.Park on the road
If you want to drive to the trailhead
Take I-90 east of Cle Elum.Exit 85  Take SR 970 north to the Teanaway Road. Follow the North Fork Teanaway Road to the 29 Pines Campground where the pavement ends at a fork in the road. Take the right fork, FR 9737, 10 miles to its end at trailhead #1394, Esmeralda Basin.
Driving time around 2 hrs
Northwest Forest Pass is required.

Take  405 south ,take exit #9 and follow the sign Park&Ride

Appointment at 9:30 at the trail head,15 minutes waiting time
Driving time 1hr 30 minutes
Direction: Drive Hwy 2 to Steven pass,around 4 miles past the pass turn left (road 6700 go to the trailhead)
Northwest Forest Pass is required

Mason Lake 6 miles R/T 2100 feet elevation gain.Moderate ++
Follow I-90 to exit #45. Turn left on Road #9030. Continue on Road #9030 for three-quarters of a mile. At the “Y” stay left (straight) onto Road #9031 (Mason Lake Road). Continue for 3.2 miles to the trailhead at the end of road.
Appointment at 9:30. Waiting time 15 min.
Travel from Seattle around 1 1/2 hr.We try to carpool if I know by Friday who's is coming

Talapus & Olallie Lakes   6.00 miles R/T , elevation gain 1,200 feet. Very easy
Driving Directions: Go off I-90 on Exit 45 (Forest Road 9030), cross under the freeway, and continue straight for one mile. At a split, go right (still on 9030) for 5.4 miles to the trailhead and parking lot.
Driving time 1hr
Appointment at 9:30 at the trailhead, 15 minutes waiting time (nothing wrong to arrive a few minutes earlier)
